This fort was built by the Portuguese in 1511.

Unfortunately, the city walls were demolished by the British in 1810.
很可惜，城墙已被英国人在1810年拆毁了。

残念ながら、要塞の城壁は１８１０年にイギリス人に取り壊されました。
This is the only surviving gate from the fort.

Originally, the fort was surrounded by Malacca River (to the north and west), Strait of Malacca (south) and a moat (east).

自転車タクシーのことを簡単に「輪タク」と言いますが、
デコレーションがとても派手で乗るのが恥ずかしいです。
I had to Google this to find out it wasn’t a Famosa but A Famosa! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Famosa ) Now it makes sense. I’d visit it if I were there!

Wow, this fort is a real antique LC! I am amazed it has survived. I like how you framed it with the decorative yakshaw. Hope you are recovering well from your long 10 mile walk, a very impressive feat indeed :^)
